The issue has some emotion but it’s mostly political maneuvers. ![]() With color by David Curiel and lettering by Joe Sabino there’s a beautiful stiffness to it all. It moves the plot forward, especially towards the latter part of the issue as we see the pushback from Professor X, Magneto, and Moira as they attempt to figure out how they were outmaneuvered and what to do. ![]() The issue could easily feel like a retread of events but Hickman manages to go beyond repeating the first issue in multiple ways. The issue is an interesting flipside of the coin as we get events from a different perspective. They’re minor headscratchers that are best to just roll with. While it all makes sense in a way, there’s absolutely some holes in the plot of how she wasn’t detected in her maneuvering but some individuals. We get a lot of answers around how she manipulated those around her to not just resurrect Destiny but also to get them to vote the way she wants. Much of the issue is from Mystique’s point of view. How did she return Destiny to the living? How is she manipulating everyone? We get our answers in a fairly satisfying issue. Inferno #2 is much of the same but delivering events from the view of Mystique. But, it set up the conflict to come with a few twists and turns in the start of Jonathan Hickman‘s endgame for his X-Men run. It was a comic full of politics and not a whole lot of action. ![]() ![]() The first issue of Inferno was a lot of setup and maneuvering by its characters. The recurring problem is that, recommendation systems are skilled at catering to who you are, but contributes nothing towards who you aspire to be.Īs a practical and initial remedy, we believe as users, you have the right to not see what you do not wish to see, and we want to share this superpower with you via RecAlign, an open source initiative for recommendation alignment. Perhaps you are recovering from alcohol addiction, but the recommendation system knows too well about your love for alcohol and infests your feed with ads for alcohol. Perhaps you signed up for Twitter to keep up with research, but a single click on a funny meme will flood your timeline with similar content. ![]() We then use a large language model (LLM) to filter out recommendations that you do not wish to see. I know that Mennonites are Christians, and that they’re sort of like the Amish but not really. One regret I have about this book is that I didn’t get a chance to research Mennonites as well as I would have normally while I was reading since I read so much of it on planes, or in bed, where I have a fairly strict no devices before going to sleep policy. This novel is not especially plot-driven it’s more about Yoli figuring out her somewhat messed up life (she is getting divorced, drinks too much, has a fairly successful career writing books that mean very little to her, has two teenaged children who seem like good kids, but she definitely isn’t happy) and coming to terms with finally losing the person who means the most to her. Her reasons for continuing to attempt suicide are never quite defined other than that she wants to not be alive anymore. ![]() Elfreida is a pianist, and a very famous and accomplished one. The heroine, Harriet Vane, a tormented mystery writer who was tried and acquitted for the murder of her lover, returns to her alma mater, Shrewsbury College, a women’s college at Oxford, to investigate a poison pen writer. When Sayers began writing her Peter Wimsey stories in 1923, she fashioned a descendant of Sherlock Holmes, though with a monocle, much more charm, and a passion for quotation. Gaudy Night is not Dorothy Sayers’s most amusing mystery, but it is undoubtedly her most brilliant literary novel. ![]() But which of the apparently rational, respectable dons could be committing such crazed acts? When a desperate undergraduate, at her wits' end after receiving a series of particularly savage letters, attempts to drown herself, Harriet decides that it is time to ask Lord Peter Wimsey for help. Gaudy Night is not Dorothy Sayers’s most amusing mystery, but it is undoubtedly her most brilliant literary novel. For all of Gaudy Night ‘s heavy lifting in regards to women’s roles and moral questions about human nature, it is a witty and suspenseful mystery novel. When Harriet Vane attends her Oxford reunion, known as the "Gaudy," the prim academic setting is haunted by a rash of bizarre pranks: scrawled obscenities, burnt effigies, and poison-pen letters-including one that says, "Ask your boyfriend with the title if he likes arsenic in his soup."Some of the notes threaten murder and one of them involves a long Latin quotation, which makes Harriet suspect that the perpetrator is probably a member of the Senior Common Room. ![]() ![]() in Comparative Literature from the Union Institute of Ohio. in Literature and Creative Writing from Syracuse and a Ph.D. ![]() He, his younger sister Margaret, and his two grown sons, James and Jesse, continue to work extensively in projects involving the preservation of Abenaki culture, language and traditional Native skills, including performing traditional and contemporary Abenaki music with the Dawnland Singers. ![]() Although his American Indian heritage is only one part of an ethnic background that includes Slovak and English blood, those Native roots are the ones by which he has been most nourished.
